What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. Some are necessary for a site to work at all; others are used to measure or advertise. This page explains what this site does and does not use.
The short version
This site uses only cookies that are necessary for it to work. We run no analytics, no advertising, and no cross-site tracking, and we do not sell your information. Because there is nothing optional to switch on or off, there is no consent choice to make here — and we would rather say that plainly than show you a banner that does nothing.
What we use
Strictly necessary
These make the site function and cannot be switched off. They keep you signed in, remember what is in your cart, and protect forms against misuse. Without them the site will not work properly. Browsing the public pages sets no cookie at all; these appear once you sign in, add something to a cart, or reach checkout.
Statistics and marketing
We use neither. There is no analytics package on this site, no advertising pixel, and no profiling of visitors.
Requests to other companies
Parts of this site load resources from, or send lookups to, companies other than us. Apart from Stripe at checkout, none of them set a cookie here — but your browser contacts them directly, so each receives your IP address, and one receives what you type. Which ones apply depends on the page you are on.
On every page
- Google Fonts — typefaces are requested from Google’s servers as the page loads.
On the Townica directory
- Esri (ArcGIS) — holds the directory listing data itself, which the page fetches as you browse.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) — turns a place name or address into map coordinates. The location text you type into the search is sent to them.
- Zippopotam.us — looks up postcodes.
- unpkg and Cloudflare (cdnjs) — deliver the mapping library the page runs.
At checkout
- Stripe — payment processing and fraud prevention. Stripe sets its own cookies on checkout pages.
Only if you click
Directory listings carry share and directions links to X (Twitter), Facebook and Google Maps. Those companies are contacted only when you choose to use one of those links.
All of these are governed by those companies’ own privacy policies.
Managing cookies in your browser
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and every major browser lets you do so per site. Blocking the necessary ones will stop parts of this site from working — you will not be able to stay signed in or complete a purchase.

If we ever add analytics, embedded video, or anything else that tracks visitors, we will add a proper consent control here and ask before it runs.
